Lesson: How MUST we Pray?.mp3
Key Text: Rom. 8:26
Olive green – is always scripture.
In the Words of Paul, “…we know not what we should pray, nor how to offer that prayer in a worthy manner as we must…” Romans 8:26.
Praying in line with God’s overall purpose which is the Kingdom of God. Though we are in and part of the kingdom, not all kingdom goals are going to be immediately compatible with our own comfort and safety. Therefore, to pray for those things which provide for yourself alone without a mind towards the greater story of the Kingdom of God is to pray with the wrong goal in mind…
“You ask for something but do not get it because you ask for it for the wrong reason-for your own pleasure.“ ~ James 4:3
“Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.“ ~ Php. 2:3-4
So this week we spent some time exploring ways in which our prayers need an alteration in motive and focus that we may “pray in a worthy and offer it in manner as we must” (paraphrased).
